Atlantic Sapphire wins Star of Innovation award in Brussels

Atlantic Sapphire was named Star of Innovation in the EU Commission’s awards to the best companies recently listed on stock exchanges across Europe.

The European Small and Mid-Cap Awards are an annual award organized by the European Commission, the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) and European Issuers. The awards aim to promote best practices and to highlight the best European small and mid-sized companies that have gained access to capital markets via an Initial Public Offering (IPO). All the leading European stock exchanges had nominated their candidates for the award ceremony, which took place in Brussels yesterday evening.

A total of four prizes were awarded, and Atlantic Sapphire, listed on Merkur Market in May 2018, won "Star of Innovation". This category includes newly listed companies that places innovation at the centre of its strategy for business development. They introduce innovative technology to the market, or use innovative techniques in its day-to-day operations. The winner should be well-managed and successful in its sector, and especially important is the future potential that the innovation offers.

Fjordkraft, listed on Oslo Børs in March 2018, was nominated in the “Star of 2019” category. These companies are exceptional performers in their sector, responsible corporate citizens, well-managed and have had a positive development since listing.

The European Small and Mid-Cap Awards has been held annually since 2013, and four companies listed in Oslo have previously won. In 2013, Borregaard, Wilh. Wilhelmsen and Veripos were awarded “Most innovative newcomer”, “Most internationally-minded newcomer” and "Rising star" respectively, while Scatec Solar won the category for “Most internationally-minded newcomer” in 2015.

Atlantic Sapphire is pioneering land-raised salmon farming, with a focusing on developing sustainable and environmentally friendly farming methods that enable the company to produce at scale in consumer end markets. The company is building its first facility in Miami, Florida, USA.
