Norway is the world's third largest gas exporter and the fifth largest oil exporter, making the nation leading in energy production and trading. Measured by the number of listed companies, the Oslo stock market is the second largest in Europe for energy companies in general, and the second largest in the world for companies in the oil service sector in particular.
The companies in the OSLO Energy Index represent around half of the total market capitalisation of companies listed on Oslo Børs and Oslo Axess, and international companies account for a significant proportion.
