Information Symbol and English Symbol
Information Symbol
Companies with listed shares or equity certificates (ECs) on Oslo Børs or Oslo Axess that satisfy certain requirements regarding the breadth and manner for distribution of information, are identified in the stock exchange tables and official share price lists published by Oslo Børs by the Information Symbol. Any issuer of listed shares or ECs that satisfies the requirements may qualify for the Information Symbol, which will be shown next to the name of the company using the letter "i".
Language to be used for the Information Symbol
Norwegian issuers, who are required to use the Norwegian language to fulfil their information requirements, must use Norwegian in compliance with the Stock Exchange Regulations. Other information required for the purposes of the Information Symbol may be published in English.Foreign issuers who use the English language when publishing information in accordance with the Regulations and Norwegian issuers who choose to publish such information in English, will qualify for the Information Symbol by providing the information required by the guidelines in English. Such issuers will simultaneously qualify for the English Symbol.
Requirements for the Information Symbol
In order to qualify for the Information Symbol, issuers must satisfy specific requirements regarding the provision and distribution of information. These requirements can be divided into three main criteria:
- Availability of information on the internet
- Presentations
- Prompt publication of interim reports
Status of the Information Symbol
Oslo Børs will not evaluate the correctness or quality of the information published by any issuer. However, it is assumed that listed companies will fulfil the requirements for disclosure of information and reporting set out in Chapters 5 and 6 of the Stock Exchange Regulations/ Oslo Axess Regulations and other relevant legislation and regulations. In awarding the Information Symbol, Oslo Børs is concerned only to ensure that the issuer in question provides information in respect of the topics required by the guidelines and that it carries out the activities stipulated.
English Symbol
Norwegian issuers who use Norwegian or any other language except English to publish information, can qualify for the English Symbol ("E ") by publishing all the information required for the Information Symbol correspondingly in English. Foreign issuers who use the English language when publishing information through Oslo Børs and Norwegian issuers who choose to publish such information in English will qualify for the English Symbol and the Information Symbol by providing information required by the guidelines solely in English.
